What is Active Wellbeing?

Active Wellbeing is a free, one-to-one, student-led support programme, delivered in partnership with Active Students and UH Student Wellbeing.

The programme is designed to support students who may be struggling with university life, feeling low, isolated, anxious, or waiting to access further wellbeing support.

For any questions, please email: activestudents@herts.ac.uk

How does it work?

· You will be matched with a Wellbeing Activator, a trained student with similar interests and availability.

· You will meet twice a week for four weeks.

· Sessions are flexible and built around you.

· Activities can include walking, cycling, skating, gym sessions, or attending free Active Students sessions together.

· Activators can attend sessions with you (in non-uniform) to help reduce anxiety about getting started.

If you are not happy with your match, just let us know, we are always happy to review it.

Who are Wellbeing Activators?

Our Wellbeing Activators are carefully selected students who complete specific training to ensure your safety and theirs.

· They are not therapists or counsellors.

· They provide non-medical, non-judgemental support.

· They are simply someone to talk to while being active.

All sessions are confidential. However, if we believe you are at risk to yourself or others, necessary information will be shared on a need-to-know basis.

How to access the programme?

You can:

· Self-refer via our online form.

· Be referred by Student Wellbeing or another support service.

Once we receive your referral:

· The project coordinator will contact you to answer any questions.

· We will gather any additional information if needed.

· We will match you with a suitable Wellbeing Activator.
