Tournament Format
- The tournament structure will be confirmed at a briefing post registration prior to the start of the tournament.
- Points will be awarded as follows for group matches:

- Any team winning by a walkover (i.e. opposition no show or unacceptable cancellation) will be deemed to have won by a score of 3-0 (unless the tournament organisers decide otherwise).

- Any knock-out match that finishes in a draw will instantly go to a best of three penalty shootout.
- All fixtures will be played on the College Lane Oval Pitches.
- Players must ONLY wear astro trainers or moulded studs on the 3G surface - blades and metallic studs are NOT permitted.
Pre-Tournament Requirements
- Each individual team will be permitted to register up to a maximum of 10 players (male or female).
- All players must be listed under their set team by the player registration at 10:00 on the day
- Teams are required to arrive at the Oval 3G on the College Lane campus to register at 9:30 ahead of a player briefing at 10:00. The tournament will run throughout the day on the 12 December from 10:00 - 17:00.
- All teams MUST have arrived and registered ahead of the 10:00 player briefing and subsequent group photo.

Tournament Rules and Regulations
- Spectators must spectate from outside the Oval 3G pitch.
- Only current University of Hertfordshire students can participate in the tournament.
- Players are required to show their student ID card at the start of the tournament. Failure to show a valid ID card could result in that student not being able to play their fixture.
- Each team captain will be responsible for ensuring only registered players take part in fixtures. Involvement of ineligible (or non-student) players will result in a deduction of 3 points and the loss of the match.
- All players are required to wear shin pads. If a player does not have shin pads on, then they will not be able to participate in the fixture.
- All kick-off times and fixtures will be confirmed on the day at the pre-tournament briefing.
- The referee will be instructed to kick the game off at the allotted time. A team must take to the pitch if there are 4 or more players present. It is the team captain’s responsibility to get players on the pitch ready for kick off. Any delay to the start of the game to allow for players arriving late is at the discretion of the tournament organiser. If, after this time, a team has 3 or less players then the opposition will be awarded a walkover.
- All matches will be played in line with the rules stated below. Outside of the rules below, we will refer to standard Football Association Small-Sided Football Laws of the Game for guidance.
- Substitutes can be rolled on and off at any time the ball goes ‘dead’ providing the referee has permitted it.
- There are no area restrictions imposed on any player.
- NO offsides.
- Goal-kicks must be taken from the goal-line.
- Goalkeepers CANNOT drop-kick the ball. An indirect free kick where the drop-kick took place will be awarded if applicable.
- Goalkeepers can only handle the ball in their goal area (shown by markers).
- Goalkeepers CANNOT pick up a deliberate back pass from their players. Those guilty of this will face an indirect free kick where the offence took place.
- The ball CAN go over head height.
- Kick-ins will be used to play the ball in from the sides (no goal can be directly scored from this) and corners.
- All opponents must be at least 3m from the ball until it is in play for free kicks.
- Goals can be scored both inside and outside the penalty area.
- If a penalty is awarded, a maximum of one step can be taken.
- Wherever possible the tournament organisers will provide qualified referees. In the event this is not possible, experienced players will officiate matches.
- Players in Campus Football will be expected to maintain appropriate standards of behaviour. Failure in players maintaining the appropriate standards of behaviour could result in the HertSquad Team taking relevant action (where applicable to the University) and seeking to impose sanctions where appropriate to the behaviour / incident.
- Any player receiving a yellow card in a fixture will result in them being sent to the sin bin for 3 minutes. The referee will make the player aware when they can re-join the match. Any singular yellow cards will be wiped clean at the end each match.
- Two yellow cards in a match will result in a red overall (please see below).
- Any player receiving a red card:
- Will be subject to a ban determined by the tournament organiser based on the nature of the offence(s).
- May be asked to vacate the playing area at the time of the red card being shown.
- May not be permitted to spectate matches within the duration of their ban.
- Any team winning by a walkover (i.e. no show or unacceptable cancellation from the opposition) will be deemed to have won by a score of 3-0 (unless the tournament organisers decide otherwise).
- Please be aware that the tournament organiser's decisions are final.
Post-Match Requirements
- Each team captain is required to sign the referee’s scorecard post-match which should then be handed to the tournament organiser straight away.
