Represent the University

Basketball is a key performance sport at the University. Fast-paced and intense, the club is looking to attract players that will enhance their squads. Training is competitive but enjoyable, aimed at pushing those that participate to the best of their capabilities.

Competition

The Basketball Club participate in British College and Universities Sport (BUCS) competition:

Men’s 1st - South Eastern 1A and Trophy
Men’s 2nd - South Eastern 4B and Conference Cup
Women’s 1st - Premier South and Championship

How to Join

There are three weeks of free trials and taster sessions at the start of Semester B (Monday 10th January - Sunday 30th January).

Anyone invited to join the Club must have signed up and paid for their membership following this three-week period.

Coaching

The Men's First Team are coached by Hemel Storm (National League Div 1) Assistant Coach, Michael Darlow.

The Women's First Team are coached by Oaklands Wolves (WBBL) Assistant Coach, Natasha Green.

What to expect:

The aim is to be competetive, so you'll play competitive matches against each other. Coming alone? Please don't worry, we have friendly trained student Activators who will meet you there and find you a team to join.  All equipment is provided, so you just need to bring yourself and a bottle of water.

How to be involved:

From Monday 14 February you'll have to purchase a membership or book and pay for sessions in advance.  All sessions can be booked 7 days in advance, which gives you plenty of time.  To do this, just sign up for the FREE HertSquad membership and book in person at Hertfordshire Sports Village or over the phone weekdays between 11:00-13:00 via 01707 284466.

How to sign up:

  • Sign up for a HertSquad membership
  • Visit our reception team at Herts Sports Village on De Havilland campus or email the team at sports.reception@herts.ac.uk to take out the membership
  • Then book onto the sessions you want to go to!
  • Don't forget to collect your free hoodie from the HertSquad Office.  See what times we are open.

Pay as you go
