Basketball is a popular sport at UH and there are so many ways you can get involved!

Represent the University

Basketball is a key performance sport at the University. Fast-paced and intense, the club is looking to attract players that will enhance their squads. Training is competitive but enjoyable, aimed at pushing those that participate to the best of their capabilities.

Competition

The Basketball Club participate in British College and Universities Sport (BUCS) competition:

Men’s 1st - South Eastern 1A and Trophy
Men’s 2nd - South Eastern 4B and Conference Cup
Women’s 1st - Premier South and Championship

How to Join

There are two weeks of free trials and taster sessions following Freshers' Week (Monday 4th October - Sunday 17th October).

Anyone invited to join the Club must have signed up and paid for their membership following this three-week period.

Please pre-register at the HertSquad Sports Fair (Wednesday 29th September) or by contacting the Club on their social media channels.

The Women's First Team are coached by Oaklands Wolves (WBBL) Assistant Coach, Natasha Green.

If you are an avid basketball player or just want a regular game each week, then get yourself involved in the campus based basketball programme.

Renowned for providing a great social setting to play basketball with your friends, course mates or house mates against other students in our weekly book and play sessions and semesterly leagues.

If you are a student looking for a team to join or you are student captain looking for extra players to join your squad in the Campus Basketball 3v3 league, then come along to one of our FREE 'Get Involved' sessions. Details of these sessions can be found below.

Campus Basketball Book and Play Sessions

New this semester, purchase a £50 Campus Sport Semester A membership to access unlimited weekly book and play sports sessions in a range of sports. You will also receive a purple HertSquad Campus Sport hoody!

Players will be placed into teams to play competitive matches throughout the session.

All book and play sessions will be FREE to attend between Monday 4 October and Sunday 17 October so come along and give them a go! Places during the 2 week free period will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Purchase a £50 semester A Campus Sport membership for unlimited access or pay as you go (£3.00 per session for members or £6.00 for non-members). To purchase your Campus Sport Semester A membership or FREE HertSquad Pass to access pay as you go member prices, please click here. Students must have purchased a membership or paid pay as you go prices from Monday 18 October in order to keep attending sessions.

From Monday 18 October students need to book onto Campus Sport Book and Play sessions by clicking here. Sessions can be booked 3 days in advance.

Students who purchase a semester A Campus Sport membership will also be able to collect a purple HertSquad Campus Sport hoody from the HertSquad Office at Hertfordshire Sports Village on the de Havilland Campus.

Players have the option to purchase a HertSquad Campus Sport hoody for £20.00 from the HertSquad Office at Hertfordshire Sports Village on the de Havilland Campus once they have joined a team.

The HertSquad Campus Basketball league will commence the week beginning Monday 18 October.

Enter a Team

Students can enter a team into the Campus Basketball league above by following the instructions below:

1. Download the Playwaze app on your mobile phone app store (orange square with white pw).

2. Log into the Playwaze app (BUCS Play log in can be used) or register a new account.

3. Search Playwaze for the University of Hertfordshire Community (purple H logo). Keep 'I'm looking for' drop down as 'Organisations/Providers'.

4. Join the University of Hertfordshire Community.

5. Click on 'Other Communities' and click the Campus Basketball 3v3 button.

6. Click on the league you wish to enter.

7. Click 'enter team' at the bottom, follow the instructions and make your team payment to secure your place in the league.

We recommend the team captain enters the team into the league. All team members will have to follow steps 1-5 above and then join their set team so that all team members are visible.

 

Looking for a Team to Join in the Campus Basketball 3v3 League or Need Extra Players to Join Your Squad

Students are responsible for organising their own teams. Although assistance is offered through our FREE 'Get Involved' session at the start of term to help teams recruit players or for individuals looking for a team to join. Just come along to one of the sessions below with your student I.D. card:
