Remember - our swimming pool will be closed on Wednesday 28 August for lane marking repainting as we continue to make improvements to the Sports Village. This also means there will be no swimming element on Wednesdays Kids Village Day Camp. The pool will be back open at the usual time of 06:30 on Thursday 29 August.
The Canoe and Kayak Club meet on Wednesday afternoons and travel to local venues for coaching, such as Lee Valley White Water Centre - the home for Canoe Slalom events in the London 2012 Olympics. In addition, the club carries out a number of white water trips around the country and also enters a number of Polo, Slalom and Freestyle competitions. All are welcome to join this friendly club, regardless of whether you are a complete novice or an experienced white water paddler.
The Canoe Club compete in various National University Canoe Championships managed by BUCS, NSR and other student events. These include Polo, Slalom, White Water and Freestyle competitions.
There are two weeks of trials and taster sessions which begin in the week following Freshers' Week. These sessions are for new and existing members to train without cost or commitment.
You must pre-register to attend at either the Athletic Union Sports Fair or the SU Fresher’s Fair where you will be given further information.
All members must have signed up to the Club at the end of the two week trial.
The Canoe Club is coached by experienced and qualified coaches who can teach on both flat and white water.
