On Thursday 16 May, following a successful application to the Campus Community Life (CCL) fund which is an initiative between the University of Hertfordshire and Uliving, the HertSquad Campus Sport Team helped raise awareness of mental health amongst our student body at the University of Hertfordshire by hosting an 8-a-side football tournament.
The tournament engaged with over 60 students who participated, officiated and spectated. The students were encouraged to talk about their mental wellbeing and recognise how physical activity can be a positive driver for positive mental wellbeing.
Working in partnership with Herts FA, Mind in Mid Herts, Hertfordshire Students’ Union Advice and Support Centre and the UH Student Wellbeing team were able to combat the stigma of mental health and help start conversations in a safe and supported environment.
The day was enjoyed by all but a big congratulations must go to Easy Money who won the tournament following a closely fought 2-0 final against Unknown FC.
Thank you to all our partners for their support both in the lead up to and at the event itself to make it such a huge success.
