Couch to 5K

Join our Activators for our Couch to 5k sessions! Gently increase your distance each week as you walk, jog, run and chat with our friendly running group. Meet us outside Herts Sports Village for a 17:20 departure every Wednesday!

Couch to 5k is a session aimed at helping you get active and start walking, jogging or running. It’s progressive style allows people from any fitness level to join and start their physical activity journey.

What are the benefits of Couch to 5K sessions?
With this session, comes a great number of benefits. Walking, jogging or running increases your cardiovascular capacity, enables your joints to get stronger, strengthens your legs and burns plenty of calories. Many studies over the years have proven time and again that walking, jogging or running, depending on your level of fitness have tremendous physical and mental health benefits.

Introducing Jogging Buddy:
When you walk, jog or run, why should you do it alone? We are bringing you this session so that you have multiple partners in your quest to get moving! On top of that, we’d like to introduce you to a program called “Jogging Buddy” that is designed to help you find a running partner wherever you are. Jogging Buddy is well established in over 100 countries and many people are using it to find running partners across the UK. What should you wear for the session?
All participants should wear comfortable, breathable athletic clothing and trainers to participate in our Active Students Couch to 5K sessions. You must bring your UH ID cards and don’t forget your water bottle, too! It’s important to stay hydrated during participation.
