Join us for free Active Students Flag Football sessions every Wednesday at the Oval 3G on College Lane Campus! Flag Football are new sessions to our weekly Active Students schedule and will be available throughout the rest of the semester!
Flag Football is a variant of American Football, where instead of the goal being to tackle opposing players to the ground, the defence must grab the flag from the attackers. It is played by two teams and contact is strictly not allowed between players. It is a relatively low injury risk sport compared to traditional American Football, played with less players-a-side; it is widely played in the UK and US as a popular recreational sport at all levels.
What are the benefits of Flag Football sessions?
The sport is a brilliant way to develop cardiovascular and muscle strength, which in turn benefit your overall health and wellbeing. Players have noticed increased agility, speed, flexibility and strategic thinking as a result of playing Flag Football. Physical and mental benefits of a team sport like Flag Football boosts your mood, gives you the energy to feel at your best at sports, university and work throughout the week. Furthermore, with teamwork comes a sense of collaboration, discipline and the ability to see the bigger picture. By and large, this sport offers numerous great advantages for you to experience.
Who can come along to the sessions?
Flag Football is open for everyone. You can join regardless of your skill level, or your fitness level. Our activators will be present at the session to help you out. If you have any questions about the sport or the sessions, please don’t hesitate to reach out and we would be happy to answer!
What should you wear for the session?
All participants should wear comfortable, breathable athletic clothing and trainers to participate in the event. You must bring your UH ID cards. Don’t forget your water bottle, too! It’s important to stay hydrated during your participation.
