Kabaddi

Monday 24 January, 2022

Come to our free Active Students Kabaddi sessions every Wednesday at the Oval 3G on College Lane campus. Kabaddi originated in India and is a newly introduced session for 2021-22 - it will be available throughout the rest of the program!

What are the benefits of Kabaddi sessions?
Carrying all the benefits of physical activity and exercise, Kabaddi brings a breath of fresh air to our programme. Team sports are a tremendous way to get your body moving and have fun playing with your friends. There are numerous benefits to your physical and mental health from playing a team sport like Kabaddi. It’s physically demanding and requires strategic play in the points. It has been shown that playing team sports boost your feel-good hormones, improve your mood and provide the positive energy to brighten your week!

The goal of the game, played between two teams of seven players, is that a single player, called the "raider" on offense enters the opposing team's half, touches as many defenders as possible, and returns to their own half of the court in a single breath, without being captured by the defenders. Points are earned for each player tagged by the raider, while the opposing team earns one point for stopping the raider.

Who can come along to the sessions?
Regardless of your skill level, everyone is welcome to join our Kabaddi sessions. You can be a beginner, experienced player or someone totally new to the sport and still enjoy the benefits of the session. Our experienced activators will be there to teach you the details of the sport and assist you throughout the scheduled sessions.
