Want to try something new? Come to our Active Students Korfball sessions every Thursday at the Oval MUGA on College Lane Campus!
Korfball is a sport that is known to be similar to basketball and netball. It's a mixed-team sport, played with 2 teams each consisting of 4 female and 4 male players. The netless basket is placed at 3.5 meters high and the aim is for both teams to score by throwing the ball in the basket. This is a sport that will probably be new to most. But don’t worry, our activators will be explaining all the rules and techniques of the game before the session begins.
What are the benefits of Korfball sessions?
Korfball, like many sports and team-sports, have amazing benefits to your physical and mental health. People who play Korfball experience increased cardiovascular health, flexibility, agility and a lower injury risk. The teamwork will help you coordinate with your peers and you will see the Korfball teamwork in benefit you every day.
Who can come along to the sessions?
Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or experienced at Korfball, you are welcome to join. As with every other session, Active Students welcomes students from all backgrounds and fitness levels. Our activators will be present at the session at all times and are there to support you and teach the game. If you have any questions about the sport or the sessions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are happy to help.
What should you wear for the session?
All participants should wear comfortable, breathable athletic clothing and trainers to participate in the event. You must bring your UH ID cards. Don’t forget your water bottle, too! It’s important to stay hydrated during participation.
