Active Students Wellbeing Programme

Being active is not only great for our physical health but also our mental health! Research suggests that becoming more active can:

  • Lift your mood
  • Enhance concentration
  • Build confidence
  • Improve sleep quality
  • Help to make social connections
  • Boost overall wellbeing

Active Students know that taking the first steps to become more active can be difficult, so we are here to support you on your journey. Please read all the information below to make sure this programme is right for you.

If you are interested in becoming part of the Active Students Wellbeing Programme, please fill out this form.

How does the programme work?

This programme is about improving your mental health by becoming more active. We will match you up with a Wellbeing Activator who is also a student. The Activator will support you over a 3-week period to become more active. Firstly, you will meet the Activator to get to know each other and discuss your interests, motivations around physical activity and together you will decide a plan of action. You will meet the Activator up to twice a week over the course of 3 weeks.

How do I become part of the programme?

We ask that if you are interested in becoming part of the Active Students Wellbeing Programme that you fill out this form. A member of the Active Students team will be in touch with you directly about the next steps.

What activities will we do?

Dependent upon your interests and the current COVID-19 guidelines it will vary. During this Natonal Lockdown it could be the following:

  • Walking
  • Jogging / running
  • Bike ride (using the free Active Ride bikes)
  • A mixture of the above!

How will I get matched up with the Wellbeing Activator?

You will be matched with a Wellbeing Activator based on availability

What if I have further questions?

The Active Students Team are happy to answer any questions you may have.

What happens at the end of the 3-week period?

We hope that you will feel more confident to take part in physical activity. The support during the programme will help you to build up a habit where physical activity will become part of your weekly routine. We will signpost you to activities you can do independently following the end of the 3-week period.
