The University of Hertfordshire Netball Programme is one of the best in the UK University sector. 

Represent the University

Netball is a key performance sport at the University and is known nationwide as one of the sector’s most successful programmes.

The First Team have won the BUCS Premier League South and the BUCS National Championship for the past 4 years making UH the number one unversity netball programme in the country. Athletes selected into our competitive sqauds have access to a performance focused dual-career environment which includes academic flexibility and first class athlete services (S&C, physio, gym membership, etc.) . The university also provide excellent links to franchises, clubs and external playing opportunities. 

Exceptionally talented athletes may be eligible to apply for the University's Sport Scholarship Scheme


The Netball Club compete in the National University League and Cup programmes managed by BUCS:

1st: Premier South and Championship
2nd: South Eastern 1A and Trophy
3rd: South Eastern 3B and Conference Cup

How to Join

There are two weeks of free trials and taster sessions at the start of semester. Anyone invited to join the Club must have signed up and paid for their membership following this two-week period.

The Netball Club coaching structure is led by Mel Mansfield, Head Coach at Wasps Netball, with other experienced Level 2 coaches coaching and managing the Second and Third Teams.

If you are an avid netball player or just want a regular game each week, then get yourself involved in the HertSquad campus based netball programme.

Renowned for providing a great social setting to play netball with your friends, course mates or house mates against other students in our weekly semesterly league.

If you are a student looking for a team to join or you are student captain looking for extra players to join your Campus Netball league squad, then come along to one of our FREE 'Find Your Team' sessions. Further information on these sessions can be found below.

£330 + £20 refundable deposit* per team

Squads of 7 - 14 players

AU 1st and 2nd Netball players not eligible to participate. AU 3rd Netball squad players can participate until they represent the University in BUCS.

Free to players who have joined a team in the Campus Netball league Players must be registered to a semester B Campus Netball team

* £20 refundable deposit - returned if all matches completed in accordance to league rules.

Players have the option to purchase a HertSquad Campus Sport hoody for £20.00 from the HertSquad Office at Hertfordshire Sports Village on the de Havilland Campus once they have joined a team.

Campus Netball league players will have access to a weekly coached session to improve their skills!

The HertSquad Campus Netball training and league will commence the week beginning Monday 7 February.

Enter a Team

Students can enter a team into the Campus Netball league above by following the instructions below:

1. Download the Playwaze app on your mobile phone app store (orange square with white pw).

2. Log into the Playwaze app (BUCS Play log in can be used) or register a new account.

3. Search Playwaze for the University of Hertfordshire Community (purple H logo). Keep 'I'm looking for' drop down as 'Organisations/Providers'.

4. Join the University of Hertfordshire Community.

5. Click on 'Other Communities' and click the Campus Netball button.

6. Click on the league you wish to enter.

7. Click 'enter team' at the bottom, follow the instructions and make your team payment to secure your place in the league.

We recommend the team captain enters the team into the league. All team members will have to follow steps 1-5 above and then join their set team so that all team members are visible.


Looking for a Team to Join in the Campus Netball League or Need Extra Players for Your Squad

Students are responsible for organising their own teams. Although assistance is offered through our FREE 'Find Your Team' sessions at the start of term to help teams recruit players or for individuals looking for a team to join. Just come along to one of the sessions below with your student I.D. card:
